"I had a feeling it was going to be really busy New Year's Eve but it was way busier then I had imagined. It's been our tradition for years to get our New Year's meal at La Chinoise and despite everything, it was not going to change this year. Tried calling in, but like past years the phone was busy. I drove over to order in person. Sam told me to come back in an hour, which I did. About thirty of us were waiting at the side door to pick up. We got our food about three hours late but still worth it. The crowd was in good spirits, while respecting the distancing rules. The staff was polite and apologetic. The food was great as usual. I hope things get better soon and I hope we can continue our tradition for many more years. Good luck."
"Excellent food. Good portions. Reasonably priced. On-line ordered and I picked up. The on-line ordering was well structured and easy to use. Economically it is best to order the combo for 2. The combo for 2 covered "the basics" that our group (5 people) wanted, then we topped it off with other dishes "a la carte". Our "a la carte" order well surpassed the "combo" prices, but most of our extra dishes were meat-based, so it was to be expected. I wish that the "combo for 2" could be adjusted for combo for 3,4, or 5. Perhaps it can, but I did not see this option. We will definitely make this our new default Chinese take our place! I read other comments about "rude" service. My experience is that language and cultural differences can sometimes be confused with rudeness. My pick-up correspondance at the restaurant was "abrupt", but very appreciative. Being a bilingual Anglo in Montreal it was easy to recognize the trend, it was obvious to see that the abruptness was a language issue and not being rude. Nice family restaurant with great food!"

The owner was very accommodating as we had 15 people. He understood the needs and catered to them. The price was reasonable and gave a lot of food. A lot of food enough for another 5 more people.
Really worth going to this place or even think about having a family party at home. Talk to the owner about what you want and he will give you ideas. The presentation and food was excellent, simple delicious and flavourful."
